Core Mechanics

Every game needs simple mechanics to even allow the player to actually play the game. So to show a good example of the core mechanics in a game of Call Of Duty i have used a video from a Youtuber called Frizzeyes. What he achieves in the game is not exactly important with what i am trying to show you, however he uses many mechanics because he gets lots of kills within a single game. Please try to ignore his weird blips etc but concentrate on what he does with the game and after watching i will highlight the mechanics he used within the video.

His game starts within the heat of battle on the fast paced map ‘Nuketown’, within the first 10 seconds he uses multiple mechanics helping him to get kills and avoid dying, which results in him getting up the leader board.

So the mechanics used within the players game allows him to top the leader board getting 125 kills. The core mechanics that allow him to complete his goal of leveling up and getting a high-score on the leaderboard are; shooting/damaging, walking and running, max-health and healing. re-loading. Without these core mechanics players would have no chance of winning or completing their goals of unlocking new items or getting the top spot on a leaderboard. In addition, these mechanics are rather simple to understand with what they do to a player or to someone else is within the name, i.e. ‘shooting’ enables the player to shoot whichever gun they are holding/using at that time.

The mechanics in this game allow players to play at different paces depending on their style. For example, a player who wishes to keep the pace slow can use the core mechanic of movement so that they can take their time getting round the map, clearing each section off and preparing themselves for an enemy. Whereas, a fast paced player could use the sprint mechanic which allows them to quickly get across the map to meet the enemy on their side of the map and hopefully kill them before they get a chance to react. Because of these different paces it allows players with different play styles to play the same game but in their own way. Creating Better mechanics for a wider audience in the gaming community.

Team Management

A football team needs three things to be successful; good players, chemistry, and a leadership role(S). To create a strong team it is great to have world star players on you team, however. Imagine if they did not properly understand each other all because they are from different parts of the world, communication will be dreadful. This leads to less passes or plays being made for attacks and giving your team less chance of actually scoring. Lastly, team management also includes training players and keeping them fit for game time but also keeping their morals up. If this is not done then injuries are going to occur more often which certainly is not good and players skill may be lost due to your lack of help. So basically make sure players are training.

Objectives

From what i able to gather from clips of game-play on YouTube is that the games basis for having fun whilst playing is completing tasks and quests so that objectives are completed. Unlocking or giving players new gear for them to upgrade their character and proceed through the game. Without objects there would be no way of getting through difficult levels or slaying bigger enemies.
