Developed Ideas & Tests
This page of the blog is to keep track of my progress throughout the FMP, this will be a little messy as i have been back and fourth on keeping on track. So there may be gaps or this part just may be less to say than others. However, i can imagine this will show me how to improve my timing and how i use my time in future projects and tasks.
Week 3 Reflection
I was able to to get some sketches down on two cars, a 1967 Mustang and the Renault 5 Turbo. The reason i did this was because i was still unsure as to what car i wished to do. They were not great but they gave basic body shape, without any external damage to them.

However, i did get verbal feedback about my work and was asked to complete more sketches and to add some more detailed notes to Task 2.1 and an extra moodboard to my ‘Initial Generation Ideas’. Lastly, this meant i am behind on my work and need to work harder next week to get this done and get next weeks work done as well.
Week 4
week for led me to add more detailed version of the car i had chosen. So i decided to go with the more box shaped and compact Renault 5 turbo. The simple design would make my life a lot easier as the Mustang has a more curved and complex shape compared to the 5 Turbo. Allowing me to have more time to complete the unwrap and texturing for the car. Below is the best version i drew for the car.
Later on i then began looking for a good blueprint for the car, allowing me to model it in Maya with the photos to help guide my work to be in good sized dimensions. Otherwise the car would look pretty ridiculous, and nothing would go together properly either. I cut the photo up into sections so that each view was in a separate photo, allowing me to model a section one after the other, plus it would look neater in Maya anyway.

Week 4 was an okay week, i got some important things done and some good sketches done as well. Which put me in a good position for the next week. I just need to keep the consistence up and keep doing work throughout the week
Week 5
Even though i was in a good position for this week, between my own procrastination and work i did not get much done. I believe you would call me a “lazy ass” for it which makes sense.
But i did get some little things done that i either missed or needed to change to make my write up or drawings a bit better. This included going over my writing and correcting grammar or spelling to adding details i had missed from the first time. In addition, my sketches were not the best so i either fixed them or did new ones to replace ones i did not like.
In conclusion, this week was pretty much a failure and was not something to be proud of. But this was a set back but something that could be corrected with some serious improvements to my use of time. For next week i could spread my work over each day, allowing me to not have to spend as much time at the computer in one go as usual. As when i do this, i lose focus and then waste time and do not do as much work as i would have liked to.
Week 6
I began this week with a basic block out of the car in Maya. I used a side and front view to create the basic shape of the car, showing me roughly need to be creating. This came out good because it made me think about a better way to model the car or things i could do differently. In addition, after importing the blueprints into Maya and blowing them p to the size i wanted the lines blurred which was not good as it made following the guidelines for the modeling rather difficult, however not impossible.
This led me on another hunt to find better blueprints so that they do not blur so much when imported into Maya. I found a website that is dedicated to blueprints so i made an account and downloaded the prints. I did not get to check if they were better straight away.

In conclusion for this week, i got some good work done. However, i did not catch up and some would say i may have fallen behind further. But i did get some good work done that corrected errors in my work. And it showed the beginnings of what my car could be looking like by the final piece.
Week 7
Week 7 is where it went down hill again as i got caught up in personal stuff, work and again my own procrastination held me back. This was another week of me fixing little things in my write up. I did that so i made sure i did not have any silly grammar or spelling mistakes as i do tend to make them often.
This week i did not begin the Final Model for the car which set me back big style for the rest of project. However, this does not mean that i am out of the game i just need to plan next week out well and use that time to do some serious catching up, using everyday and doing at least 2 hours each day as a minimum. As well as the model i needed to catch up a little bit on the write up as i had missed a few paragraphs that i did not know i needed.
